Brief CV: Maria Helena Padrão has a Degree in Romance Philology from the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Porto (1975). She completed a Master of Advanced Studies in Portuguese Studies at the University of Santiago de Compostela (1994) and has a PhD in Literary Theory and Comparative Literature (1996) from the University of Santiago de Compostela. She has been lecturing at the University Institute of Maia (ISMAI) since 1991.

Research Interests: Her scientific research – published in Portugal and abroad – focuses on the following areas: comparative literature (particularly the interconnectivity between literature and cinema), literary communication in the 21st century, and literary theory. She is currently a member of CIAC – Centre for Research in Arts and Communication (University of Algarve).
