Brief CV: María Jesús Botana Vilar has earned a Degree in Galician-Portuguese Philology and Romance Philology from the Faculty of Philology of the University of Santiago de Compostela, where she also attended doctoral courses in the field of Classical and Medieval Studies. She has a PhD in Literature from the Faculty of Human and Social Sciences of the University of Algarve (2016). She has been lecturing at the University of Algarve since 2002 and is a lecturer at the Centre for Galician Studies.

Research Interests: She began her scientific research as a fellow researcher at the “Centro Ramón Piñeiro para a Investigación en Humanidades (CIRP)” [Centre for Humanities Research], taking part in the project «Medieval Galicia», an edition of the “Cantigas de Loor” [songs of praise] by Afonso X (coordinated by Elvira Fidalgo and published in 2003). She also collaborated in the creation of literary voices for the publishing company Ir Indo and was a member of the Associaçom Obradoiro da Historia, having published in several numbers of its poetic newsletter Segrel. She is currently a member of CIAC – Centre for Research in Arts and Communication (University of Algarve).
