Brief CV: P: Paulo Duarte has an Undergraduate Degree (2009) and a Master’s Degree (2011) in Multimedia Education and Communication from the School of Education of the Polytechnic Institute of Santarém (ESES) and a PhD in Educational Multimedia (unanimously approved with the Cum Laude distinction) from the University of Aveiro (2015), having been awarded a PhD scholarship from the Foundation for Science and Technology.

He began his career as a freelancer in areas such as design, photography and web-development, which he pursued until the completion of his undergraduate degree. From that moment onwards, he has devoted himself to teaching. He has lectured at the School of Education of Santarém (from 2009 to 2017), Entroncamento Secondary School (2009-2010), at Jácome Ratton Secondary School (2010-2011), and he has been an Adjunct Professor at the Higher Institute of Advanced Technologies since 2016.

Research Interests: : In terms of research, he has been working mainly in education and training, particularly in areas such as Social Media, Interactive Television, Lifelong Learning and Social Inclusion (using ICT).

In addition to teaching and research, he has been involved in several national and international funded Research and Development projects, engaging in them from their construction phase (developing the application to be submitted to financing) to the development phase (execution of activities) and their assessment.

He is an Editor of the Kriativ-tech journal and a collaborator at the Research Centre “Centro di ricerca per la tutela della persona del minore [CeTM]” of the Universitá di Roma – La Sapienza, as well as of the Investigation Unit of the Polytechnic Institute of Santarém. He has been a fellow researcher at the Centro de Investigação em Didática e Tecnologia na Formação de Formadores [Research Centre on Didactics and Technology in the Education of Trainers] (2012-2015).

He has taken part in several publications and communications at national and international level over the last decade.

Additional Information: He is a member of the Scientific Council at the Higher Institute of Advanced Technologies (since 2016), and a Coordinator of both the Undergraduate Degree in Multimedia Engineering, and the CTeSP – Curso Técnico Superior Profissional [Higher technician and vocational course] in Multimedia Product Development (since 2016).

He is also part of the evaluation committee for projects submitted to the National Innovation Agency (Program P2020) and the Agency Erasmus + JA (Erasmus + Program).

He was a member of ESES’s Faculty Board (2007-2009), a member of ESES’s Projects and Internationalization Advisory Board (2014-2017) and the Secretary of the Master’s in Multimedia Education and Communication at ESES (2014-2017).
