TERESA TORRES DE EÇA
Brief CV: Plastic Artist and teacher of Visual Arts. She has a PhD from the University of Surrey Roehampton (UK). She has been the President of the International Society for Education Through Art-InSEA since 2014; the President of the Portuguese Visual Art Teachers Association – APECV since 2008; the Director of the Almada Negreiros Teacher Training Center (APECV); she is a plastic Artist and a Visual Arts teacher at Alves Martins Secondary School.
She collaborates with the Centre for Research in Arts and Communication (CIAC) – Universidade Aberta, Portugal. She has coordinated international projects for intercultural Education, Education for sustainable development, Education for Peace, and Artivism. She is a Member of the group Research Through Art: C3. She edited several books and wrote several articles for international journals on art education. She is a co-editor at E-publicações IMAG (InSEA Emagazine) and also at inVISIBILIDADES – Revista Ibero-Americana de Pesquisa em Educação, Cultura e Artes [Ibero-American research journal on education, culture and arts].
Research Interests: She has dedicated her scientific activity to the areas of Arts Education and Art-Based Research. She has coordinated international projects and studies funded by APECV (Project Cadernos Artivistas, Soundscapes and the Project Comparangoleiros) as well as Lifelong Learning projects funded by the European Union (2010 ITEMS PROJECT: INNOVATIVE TEACHING FOR EUROPEAN MUSEUM STRATEGIES; 2015 CREARTE: Creative school Partnerships with Visual Artists; 2018: CIRCLE OF COMPETENCES FOR COMMUNITY WORK WITH ADULTS). She is a member of the Arts Based Research Conferences Scientific Council; of the ARTECH Scientific Council (International Conference on Digital Art); of International Art Congresses, Ilustración y Cultura Visual en Educación Infantil y Primaria: Mediación crítica dentro y fuera de la escuela [Illustration and Visual Culture in Early Childhood and Primary Education: Critical mediation inside and outside the school], of international congresses on arts, new technologies and communication (CIANTEC) and of the European Conferences on Educational Research (ECER) of the European Educational Research Association (EERA). She is part of the Board of Editorial Review of several magazines on artistic education, such as Revista Portuguesa de Educação Artística [a Portuguese journal], IMAGINAR, [a Portuguese journal]; Dobra [a Portuguese journal]; @tic. revista d’innovació educativa [a Spanish journal]; Revista Apotheke, a journal owned by the Arts Centre of Santa Catarina State University, in Brazil, Revista Communiars [a Spanish journal]; Anastasis [a Romanian journal]; Creative Arts in Education and Therapy (CAET) – Eastern and Western Perspectives, China.
