António Araújo
António Bandeira Araújo has a degree in Physics (1995) and a PhD in Mathematics from the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon (2011). He is an assistant professor at Universidade Aberta, where he has been teaching since 2003.
Research Interests
He has divided his scientific activity between two aspects of the study of geometry – in the field of pure mathematics, he has studied the classification of Legendrian curves and the desingularization of Lagrangian surfaces. More recently, he has dedicated himself to the study of applications of geometry to the visual arts, particularly in the study of curvilinear perspectives and anamorphosis, both in the context of classical techniques and in their relationship with the algorithms and techniques of digital art. This work is closely related to his parallel activities in the field of fine arts and illustration. He is an integrated member of the Center for Research in Arts and Communication (CIAC) and coordinator of its center at the Universidade Aberta. He also collaborates with the Center for Mathematics, Fundamental Applications and Operational Research (CMAF-CIO).
