Maria José Marques is an Adjunct Professor at the University of the Algarve. She has an academic background in literature and tourism, which she has developed over the course of her career at the Universidade Nova de Lisboa, the Universidade de Lisboa and the Universidade do Algarve. She has a PhD in Literature, specializing in Translation Studies. She has carried out research in the areas of comparative studies in literature and tourism, translation studies and book publishing. As a lecturer at the University of the Algarve, in addition to teaching, she has held various management positions and collaborated in the development of content for new degrees.

Research Interests

Literature and tourism; translation studies; book publishing. In these areas she has been a member of various organizing and scientific committees of international conferences and is currently on the editorial board of LIT&TOUR: International Journal of Literature and Tourism Research.
