Between Water, Memory and Faith: The immersive experience of Andreia Pintassilgo at the Convento de Santo António

On April 4, the Convento de Santo António hosts the opening of the exhibition by Andreia Pintassilgo — an engaging artistic proposal that invites reflection on identity, memory, and spirituality.

Open from April 7 to 18, this exhibition stems from the artist’s doctoral research in Media Digital Art and evokes nearly 500 years of devotion to Our Lady of Piety — one of the most significant religious manifestations south of Fátima and a profound symbol of the collective identity and memory of the people of Loulé.

Using water as a metaphor for movement and transformation, the work travels across the territory and its narratives, revealing symbolic, spiritual, and emotional dimensions of intangible cultural heritage. Through the interplay of light, image, sound, and rhythm, a sensory space is created where the visible and the invisible intersect. Drawing on transmedia narratives, augmented reality, and video art, the exhibition offers an immersive experience that brings together art, community, origins, and faith.
