Carlos Coelho publishes in ROM – Journal of the Order of Physicians
CIAC researcher Carlos Coelho Costa discusses “Art in the Service of Medicine: Humanization, Communication, and Therapy” in the latest edition of ROM – Journal of the Order of Physicians, in the section “Fora de Ordem”.
In his article, Carlos Coelho Costa emphasizes that “the relationship between art and medicine has been explored throughout history, and there are various forms of interconnection that I have explored in my work as a filmmaker”, proposing a reflection on some of them.
As an example, art can be used to explain complex medical procedures in a more understandable way for patients through diagrams or illustrations that contribute to increasing literacy regarding their health conditions and treatments, explains the researcher. Art plays a significant role in medicine, and the intersection of these two fields is an ever-evolving area.
ROM – Journal of the Order of Physicians accepts submissions for opinion and history articles. Other types of articles, such as interviews or current news, may also be published by invitation.
