Cármen Monereo takes part in conference: Media, Politics and Democracy

CIAC researcher Cármen Monereo is taking part in a conference entitled ‘Media, Politics and Democracy’ organised by the Autonomous University of Lisbon (UAL).

The university cites the importance of this conference: ‘The media and journalism play a critical role in the functioning of democracy and in mediating between the political sphere and the public, fostering knowledge about the processes, institutions and actors of the political system. In a way, the media function as the main managers of the visibility and symbolic capital of political actors (Prior, 2021, p. 42).’

Cármen’s session on ‘Does the future of media sustainability in democratic societies lie in philanthropy?’ will take place on 28 February at 10.45am in room 24 of the Autonomous University of Lisbon. It will be moderated by Paula Lopes (UAL).
