CIAC supports the exhibition “One Stadium, One City!”

The exhibition “One Stadium, One City!” will be inaugurated at the Palácio Belmarço in Faro on April 1st at 11:00 AM. The showcase commemorates the centenary of the São Luís Stadium, a project initiated by Manuel Silvestre Mendonça dos Santos, a businessman from Faro.

Officially inaugurated in 1923, São Luís Stadium stands as an emblematic space in the capital of the Algarve, having hosted national and international football figures, as well as serving as a venue for major cultural events such as concerts featuring Luciano Pavarotti and Dire Straits.

The exhibition is the outcome of the winning proposal from the Participatory Budget of the Municipality of Faro in 2023, presented by the member of the Sporting Club Farense, Pedro Gonçalves. It was organized by the Faro Municipal Museum with the support of CIAC – Center for Research in Arts and Communication of the University of Algarve, under the curatorship of researcher Jorge Carrega.

Until the end of the year, the exhibition is scheduled to be showcased in various locations across the capital of the Algarve, including the Municipal Market, the auditorium of the Portuguese Institute of Sports and Youth, and the Library of the University of Algarve.
