“Data protection and cybersecurity in the field of digital communication and media research” — with Júlio Fernandes is the next Communication Sciences Seminar
The next Communication Sciences Seminar, with the theme ‘Data protection and cybersecurity in the field of communication and digital media research’, will take place on 15 May at 6.30 pm in room 31 of ESEC, on the Penha Campus of the University of Algarve.
The seminar will be attended by Júlio Botequilha Fernandes, Data Protection Officer at UAlg, who will address fundamental issues related to information security and data protection in the academic and scientific context, with a special focus on the area of communication and digital media.
Júlio Fernandes holds a bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering (Telecommunications) and a degree in Computer Science (Systems), both from the University of Algarve. He is currently a guest lecturer at the Faculty of Sciences of UAlg, where he teaches in the Postgraduate Course in Cybersecurity. He is also responsible for coordinating the computer incident response team (CSIRT), for the University’s information security, and acts as the institution’s Data Protection Officer. He was recently appointed coordinator of the UAlg member of the Algarve Cybersecurity Competence Centre, as part of the CNCS C-Network Project, in addition to acting as trainer and coordinator of the CNCS C-Academy programme at the University of Algarve.
This seminar is promoted as part of the Project Design Course Unit of the Master’s Degree in Communication and Digital Media and is open to the entire academic community and interested members of the public.
