Edgar Massul is the next guest of the Visual Arts Cycle
Edgar Massul, visual artist, is the guest for the upcoming edition of the Visual Arts Cycle. The session will take place on May 13th, at 4:30 PM, in Amphitheatre 1.03 of the Pedagogical Complex on the Penha Campus. Admission is free.
Based in Lisbon and Faro, Edgar Massul, a visual artist, studied at the António Arroio School and attended workshops with Pedro Morais at S.N.B.A., and with João Vieira at Ar.Co. His artistic production encompasses a wide range of disciplines, including painting, drawing, sculpture, objects, photography, video, installations, and site-specific projects. His work engages with art history and ancestral nature, exploring the impermanence of organic matter and the enduring memory of things.
Edgar Massul has collaborated with José Nuno da Câmara Pereira and the University of Algarve’s CIAC, Visual Arts Course, where he participated in projects with researchers Pedro Cabral Santo, Mirian Tavares, Tiago Batista, and Xana. He has also collaborated with Pedro Cabrita Reis on various projects.
He has held solo exhibitions since 1986. Recently, his work has been showcased in various spaces, including the “Dia Soturno” at the Convent of Santo António, “(tempo) destempo” at Galeria Plataforma Revólver, “Buffo” at Appleton Square, “Arte no São Bento 2020,” “Desenhos do Forno” at Galeria Diferença, “Wadden Tide” in Denmark, a sculpture at Parque da Devesa in Vila Nova de Famalicão, “Electricidade Estética” in Caldas da Rainha at the British Bar, “Fazer Sentido” at Casa da Cerca in Almada, at Armazém 22 in Vila Nova de Gaia, at Anozero Biennial in Coimbra, at Galeria Municipal Trem – Manuel Baptista in Faro, and at Whitechapel Gallery in London.
Promoted by CIAC and FCT, the Visual Arts Cycles is organized by the Bachelor’s Degree in Visual Arts at the Faculty of Human and Social Sciences of the University of Algarve.
