Fábio Ricardo Gioppo begins his research internship at CIAC
Fábio Ricardo Gioppo holds a degree in Portuguese/English Language and Literature from the State University of Ponta Grossa-PR and is currently conducting his research internship at CIAC. He specializes in Portuguese language, literature, and teaching, holds a master’s degree in Language, Identity, and Subjectivity from UEPG-PR, with his master’s dissertation titled “Good and Evil: A Reading of Grande Sertão: Veredas” (2014).
He is a doctoral student (CAPES) in the Communication and Languages Postgraduate Program, focusing on Media Practices and Social Dynamics at the Tuiuti University of Paraná – UTP. Under the guidance of Professor Márcio Telles da Silveira and coordinated by Professor Jorge Carrega, his research focuses on how secondary characters are used as a narrative expansion resource in television adaptation.
Currently, he works as a Portuguese language professor at the Federal Institute of Paraná – Campus Curitiba, where he has been active since 2010. For many years, he led an extension project aimed at promoting reading in companies, churches, and schools, reaching hundreds of people in various cities in the state of Paraná. This year, he was appointed to the State Council of Education of Paraná, a deliberative, normative, consultative, and guiding body for the educational policy of the Paraná State Education Network.
His current research focuses on the narrative expansion movement in the fictional series “The Chosen,” which introduces secondary characters who act as protagonists in several episodes. Therefore, television series can be a tool that provides greater representation of minorities. As the research corpus, the thesis will focus on the American series “The Chosen,” as well as the canonical biblical texts of the New Testament.
The main objective is to advance in the development of the thesis, with the guidance of Professor Jorge Carrega and the studies conducted at CIAC. Additionally, the goal of the stay in Portugal is to write academic articles in co-authorship with researcher Jorge Carrega.
