CIAC researcher Gabriela Borges is participating, from October 19 to 23, 2026, in the International Seminar of Experts “Prospectiva AMI-2030” in Mexico City. The event is organized by the Euro-American Inter-University Network for Research on Media Competencies for Citizenship (Alfamed) in collaboration with the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM) of Mexico.
A recognized specialist in media education and coordinator of the Observatório da Qualidade no Audiovisual, Gabriela Borges was invited to join this international panel of experts representing 14 countries to discuss the future of Media and Information Literacy (MIL) leading up to 2030.
Intervention in Public Policies and Teacher Training
During the proceedings, the CIAC researcher acts as the rapporteur for the plenary session dedicated to “POLÍTICAS PÚBLICAS, REFORMA CURRICULAR Y FORMACIÓN DOCENTE EN AMI“, scheduled for October 22.
The seminar addresses the challenges brought by artificial intelligence, the fight against disinformation, algorithmic culture, and the role of critical and communicative skills in higher education. The contributions from the sessions will culminate in the drafting of the Manifiesto México-AMI-UAM Prospectiva AMI-2030, an international strategic document designed to guide public policies, curricula, and global partnerships in media education over the next decade.
Gabriela Borges’ participation reinforces the international standing of CIAC and the University of Algarve in leading research on Media Literacy, Education, and Communication.
