Hugo Paquete launches new Podcast: Absonus Lab
CIAC researcher Hugo Paquete creates the ‘Absonus Lab Podcast: Sound Exploration, Technology and Culture’.
At the crossroads of art, science and technology, the Absonus Lab Podcast establishes itself as a space for sonic experimentation and critical thinking. Presented by artist, transmedia artist and researcher Hugo Paquete, this podcast delves into its concepts and practices, exploring the constant evolution of sound art, computer music and post-digital aesthetics. Through a transdisciplinary approach, it promotes research, artistic exploration and scientific and cultural dissemination.
With a PhD in Digital Art, Paquete critically analyses the impact of technology on cultural and sociological paradigms, questioning the limits of perception and the role of sound in contemporary art. Each episode investigates the metapolitical potential of innovation, highlighting subcultural movements, experimental methodologies and artistic processes that resist aesthetic homogenisation — from post-techno to noise music, as well as the impact of technological infrastructures on artistic creation in digital art.
Through conversations, the Absonus Lab Podcast challenges the conventions of contemporary art, exploring how artificial intelligence, computer systems and speculative realism reshape sound art and digital media. Whether it’s the sonification of data, the expansion of reality or hybrid materialism, each episode invites listeners to rethink the social, creative and philosophical dimensions of sound, music and digital art.
