IV DIGITALIA has Mirian Tavares as guest speaker

Mirian Tavares, professor at the University of Algarve and coordinator of CIAC, has been invited to take part in a panel as part of the IV Digitalia — International Observatory Congress Festival on Music and Digital Culture, which will take place from 25 to 28 September 2024.

Digitalia is a free, public event that brings together various initiatives that articulate music with new technologies, especially those shaped by Digital Culture. The event offers a wide range of activities, such as the promotion of musical performances and other artistic manifestations; debates, workshops and courses; presentations of research and technical work; the development of platforms and devices for digital music; networking meetings, experience reports and social mobilisation through the arts.

The CIAC coordinator will take part in a panel on 27 September, which aims to discuss, within the arts and humanities, the effects of the intelligences amplified by digital technologies, forming a new individual-machine combination in the production of knowledge, artistic creation and the relationship with culture. The panel includes other important participants, such as Paola Barreto (UFBA), Cleomar Rocha (UFG) and Massimo di Felice (USP).

Digitalia is an essential activity for the area of Music and Digital Culture in the country, connecting artists, producers, researchers and the general public. All the activities are free of charge and include musical performances, installations, presentations by DJs and VJs, workshops, as well as scientific papers and conferences with national and international guests.

The event addresses cross-cutting issues such as diversity, cultural consumption on digital platforms, Internet governance, the use of artificial intelligence by governments and organisations, aspects of remuneration for journalistic content on platforms, as well as the rights and forms of remuneration for artists and content creators in general.

IV Digitalia will take place from 25 to 28 September 2024 at the Cine-Teatro of the Goethe Institut in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil.
