Jesús Ramé Lopéz to deliver a lecture on filmmaker José Leitão de Barros


On October 8, CIAC will host Jesús Ramé Lopéz, from Rey Juan Carlos University, who will give a lecture entitled “José Leitão de Barros and Spain: A Singular Cinematic Relationship.”

José Leitão de Barros was one of the most prominent Portuguese filmmakers of the 1930s and 1940s, having directed two Iberian co-productions: Bocage/Las tres Gracias (1936) and Inés de Castro (1944).

Jesús Ramé Lopéz is a professor at Rey Juan Carlos University in the Department of Communication Sciences and Sociology. He holds a PhD in Philosophy (UNED, 2019) and in Communication (URJC, 2025). He has published articles in several indexed journals. His latest book is O erro de Narciso. Literacia Audiovisual para a Educação (Dykinson, 2023). He is a member of the INECO Research Group (URJC) and the NODOS Teaching Innovation Group (URJC). His research focuses on film creative processes, film analysis, and audiovisual literacy. His article “A New Beauty: Lukács and Cinema” received the Fernando Gonçalves Labrador Award at the IX Avanca International Conference on Cinema in 2018. Beyond academia, since 2000, he has worked as a professional film and television editor.

The event is organized by CIAC and the UAlg Library and will take place in the Library’s conference room on the Gambelas campus, on Wednesday, October 8, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
