José Manuel Simões publishes book on media, art and technology in lusophone cultures
José Manuel Simões, from the University of Saint Joseph (Macau), will launch the book “Media, Art and Technology in the 9 Portuguese-Speaking Cultures.” The event will take place on 24 February 2026 at 6:30 p.m. in the Paulo Freire Amphitheater (ESEC), on the Penha campus of the University of Algarve.
“Media, Art and Technology in the 9 Portuguese-Speaking Cultures” is a bilingual publication (Portuguese and English), edited by José Manuel Simões. The research underlying the book adopts a multidisciplinary approach, prioritising scientifically proven and validated research techniques. It uses both qualitative and quantitative data to analyse the media, arts and technology landscape within the so-called Lusophone space, combining these with scientific foundations and methods of classification and knowledge construction. Bringing together contributions from authors from several Portuguese-speaking countries, some of whom are internationally renowned, the book is grounded in scientific objectives such as conducting comprehensive data collection related to media, arts and technologies across the nine territories under study, establishing interdisciplinary research in these fields, and promoting the global dissemination of the research findings.
