Mirian Tavares explores the relationship between psychoanalysis and Surrealism in a lecture in Fortaleza
Mirian Tavares, Full Professor at the Faculty of Human and Social Sciences of the University of Algarve (UAlg) and Vice-Coordinator of CIAC, will participate on 24 August in a lecture dedicated to the relationship between psychoanalysis and Surrealism, promoted by the Fortaleza Section of the Corpo Freudiano School of Psychoanalysis.
Entitled “On Psychoanalysis in Surrealism – Art as a Place for the Unconscious”, the lecture will begin at 6:00 p.m. and will take place at the headquarters of Corpo Freudiano in Fortaleza, in Room 521 of the Del Paseo Commercial Tower.
During the session, Mirian Tavares will explore the relationship between psychoanalysis and the Surrealist movement, reflecting on how the unconscious manifests itself and finds a privileged space for expression through artistic creation. The analysis will focus on the work of artists whose productions can be associated with the Surrealist universe, including Luis Buñuel, André Breton, Max Ernst and David Lynch.
In particular, the researcher will address the implications of the relationship between psychoanalysis and Surrealism in the work of these artists, seeking to understand how concepts and issues related to the unconscious permeate their artistic practices and languages.
