Mirian Tavares to deliver lecture on distrust of images
Mirian Tavares will deliver the lecture “The Distrust of Images: From the Analog to Artificial Intelligence” on 16 August, at 4:00 p.m. (Brazil time), at the Museum of Photography of Fortaleza.
At the event, the CIAC vice-coordinator will discuss our relationship with images from prehistory to the contemporary era, examining how images have been consumed over time—from the magical mode, through the symbolic, to the relationships between images of representation and presentation. She will also address the dissolution of images in the avant-gardes and their subsequent analog and digital reconstitution.
The lecture is promoted by GAEIC, a study group run by the Museum of Photography, in partnership with Imago – Laboratory of Aesthetic and Image Studies of ICA/UFC. Through lectures, workshops, guided visits, image research, and portfolio reviews, the group seeks to stimulate creative interpretations in the production of photographic essays. The coordinator of GAEIC, Prof. Dr. Fernando Maia da Cunha, will also moderate the event.
