Paulo Alexandre e Castro, a researcher at CIAC, recently published the book “Ontopotentiality of Language: A Brief Essay to Understand the Essence of Language in Heidegger”. In this work, he proposes an approach to the phenomenological philosophy of language as a way to bring forth what is named.
The book aims, through this essay, to approach Heidegger’s phenomenological philosophy of language, “an approach that seeks to realize, if not justify, that which underlies a language that is a gift, that brings forth what is named,” as stated in the book’s synopsis. The author points out and defines ontopotentiality as the hermeneutic horizon—a defining characteristic underlying language. It is from there that Heidegger’s metaphysical, ontological, and existential thought gains full meaning.
