Rennier Ligarretto publishes a chapter on teaching Social Sciences in the Global South
CIAC researcher Rennier Ligarretto Feo is co-author of the chapter “Teaching Social and Human Sciences for a Different Education in the Global South,” recently published in collaboration with Professors Oscar Julián Cuesta and Eduard Moreno from the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana.
The chapter is part of the book Voices and Educational Proposals for a Different Education: Perspectives from Latin American Contexts, edited by the Latin American Network of Graduate Programs in Education and published by Astra Editorial. The volume brings together contributions from scholars across Latin America, offering critical and transformative educational approaches grounded in values of social justice, interculturality, and territorial rootedness.
In the chapter, the authors develop a joint proposal for a Master’s program in Social Sciences education, built through an interfaculty dialogue across different fields of knowledge. The proposed model emphasizes the importance of contextualized and emancipatory curricula, committed to the sociopolitical and educational realities of the Global South.
This work represents a significant contribution to the international debate on the teaching of Social and Human Sciences, highlighting the need for more critical, reflective, and decolonially oriented pedagogical practices.
The publication is available online on the Astra Editorial website. (Voces y propuestas educativas para otra educación. Perspectivas desde los contextos latinoamericanos – Astra Ediciones: tienda en linea).
