Seminar on Communication Sciences on Transnational Cinema in Mediterranean Europe


On April 5th, at 2:30 PM, Jorge Carrega, a researcher at CIAC, will deliver a lecture on “Transnational Cinema in the Mediterranean Europe” as part of the Communication Sciences Seminars.

The event will take place at Amphitheater 1.3 in the Pedagogical Complex, on the Penha Campus of the University of Algarve, and will be an integral part of the Transnational Communication course unit, taught by Professor Cármen Monereo, for second-year students in the Communication Sciences undergraduate program at UAlg.

Jorge Carrega, who earned his Ph.D. in Communication, Culture, and Arts from the same university in 2014, is renowned for his extensive contributions to the study of transnational cinema in the Mediterranean region. Additionally, he is the author of seven books, including “Popular Genres and Transnational Cinema in the Mediterranean Europe” (2023) and “A Brief History of Culture in Faro” (2018). He has also published dozens of articles and book chapters in leading scientific journals.

The Communication Sciences Seminars is an initiative that has been developing in recent years in collaboration with professionals and the community. The sessions are organized by researchers from the Communication Sciences working group at CIAC, who are also faculty members in the Communication Sciences undergraduate program and the Digital Communication and Media master’s program at ESEC-UAlg.
