Communication Sciences Seminars Host Jessica El-Khoury


The upcoming Communication Sciences Seminar will feature Dr. Jessica R. El-Khoury, Associate Professor in the Department of Media Studies at Notre Dame University – Louaize (Lebanon), who will speak on the topic “Challenges of Journalism and Media Ethics Education in Lebanon”.

Professor El-Khoury holds a PhD in Mass Communication from Texas Tech University, with a specialisation in health communication and entertainment-education, as well as a Master’s degree in Media Studies and a Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism.

She is passionate about promoting a healthier society and strengthening both self-confidence and collective trust through media messages that encourage positive behaviours, such as domestic violence prevention, substance abuse prevention, community engagement, sports participation, proactive cancer awareness, sexual education, and the inclusion of people with disabilities.

She has presented her research at 42 international conferences, has publications in leading media communication journals, and has worked as a contributor for a magazine in Austin, Texas, where she was also a reporter, presenter, and producer at a local television station.

The event will take place on 20 November at 6:30 p.m. in Room 38 at ESEC.

This seminar is organised by professors and researchers Ana Filipa Martins and Rui António as part of the Cyberjournalism curricular unit of the Master’s in Communication and Digital Media. The session is open to the community.
