Sílvia Leiria Viegas joins the CHANGECODE podcast to discuss housing and urban inclusion

Sílvia Leiria Viegas, a researcher at CIAC – Centre for Research in Arts and Communication, University of Algarve, joins the ninth episode of the CHANGECODE podcast to discuss the right to the city and the challenges of urban inclusion.

Who has the right to the city, and what does meaningful inclusion look like in practice? These questions guide the conversation with the architect and researcher, whose work connects housing rights, migration and urban transformation, with particular attention to refugees and communities facing exclusion.

From Luanda to Lisbon and the Algarve, her research examines how public policies and local initiatives influence access to adequate housing, urban life and participation. Her involvement in participatory budgeting also connects these issues with democratic decision-making.

By placing the experiences of marginalised communities at the heart of the discussion, the episode invites listeners to reflect on pathways towards more inclusive cities.
