Volume XLVI of the Annals of the Municipality of Faro with the participation of CIAC researchers

Volume XLVI of the Annals of the Municipality of Faro (2024), with the participation of CIAC researchers, was published on November 23rd at the Faro Municipal Library. The Mayor of Faro, Rogério Bacalhau, and the Director of the Annals, Professor Guilherme de Oliveira Martins were present.

The Annals of the Municipality of Faro are a repository of the most recent research into the history of the municipality and the region, fundamental for the preservation and dissemination of the culture and heritage of Faro and the Algarve. A privileged vehicle for publicising the work of specialists in their various areas of research, the Annals are already an emblematic publication, a reference on the national scene.

This new edition features a range of articles by authors of recognised merit, seeking once again to live up to the expectations and recognition already earned by this journal.

The volume includes the article “Film exhibition spaces in Faro in the 20th century”, by CIAC researcher Jorge Carrega. There is also a chapter entitled “Study for the creation of the museum centre of Tipografia União: Presentation of results”, signed by Professor Alexandra Rodrigues Gonçalves, researcher at CinTurs (UAlg) and CIAC collaborator, and by researcher Patrícia de Jesus Palma from CHAM – Centre for Humanities at the New University of Lisbon.

The chapter presents the results of a project commissioned in 2021 by the Municipality of Faro to the University of the Algarve, with the aim of creating a museum centre in the former Tipografia União. The work was coordinated by Professor Alexandra Gonçalves, Director of the School of Management, Hospitality and Tourism of the UAlg, and included the participation of CIAC, namely Vice-coordinator Professor Bruno Mendes da Silva, researcher Jorge Carrega and scholarship holder Daniela Graça.
