Cadavre Exquis is a project created by Bruno Mendes da Silva, current vice-coordinator of CIAC, developed in partnership with four international institutions: the University of St. Joseph in Macao, the producer Art8Macao, the Creative Macao and the Macao Cultural Institute. The project also has the support of the Foundation for Science and Technology, through the Strategic Project of the Research Centre for Arts and Communication.

The project, which has been developed since November 2017, includes several initiatives in different phases. After the theoretical development, the initiative started in September 2018 with the aim of creating an interactive film with a technical and artistic team “made in Macao”. This action also included a Master Class at the University of St. Joseph, about interactive cinema, with the aim of developing international research networks that may contribute to scientific education and innovative research in the field of artistic and cultural studies.

Cadavre Exquis is part of the research project of the same author, The Forking Paths, created with the aim of fostering the creation and hosting of interactive films of different genres, origins and typologies, allowing a serious contribution to the evolution of the audiovisual language, as well as the reflection, through the creative practice, on the interactive cinema. Films such as Cadavre Exquis, a result of the narrative experiences carried out under this project, have been presented at various national and international film festivals, like The File, in Brazil.

Bruno Mendes da Silva has devoted the last years of his career as a researcher to projects related to the exploration of new audiovisual languages in cinema, namely in interactive cinema.
