The Invitrolab Project is the result of a partnership between the CIAC Centre at the Universidade Aberta and the Artech-International Association. The project, in addition to several national and international partners and collaborators, includes CIAC researchers Adérito Fernandes Marcos, Mirian Tavares, Elizabeth Simão Carvalho, José Coelho, Amílcar Martins, Paulo Shirley, José Bidarra, Vítor Cardoso, Rosália Cera, Rudolfo Quintas and Pedro Alves da Veiga in its team.

This project gives rise to a cross-disciplinary platform for art, technology and science, which has enabled support for digital artistic creation. The curatorial programme INVITRO is developed within the framework of the Centre for Cross-disciplinary Research, Development and Experimentation of Technological Artefacts of the Universidade Aberta/Artech-International.

The latter results from the dynamic coordination of a centre of associated institutions and entities, with the mission to host, implement and activate national and international programmes and projects, for development, promotion, dissemination and training within the broad scope of computer creativity. In this context, the scope of the ‘INVITRO: Activation’ programme is to support digital artistic creation, according to a three-level structure of activation of the ecosystem of concerted and full support to creation, from technological formalisation to professionalization and implementation in the community.
