The Digital Literacy Hub is located in IPSantarém and was created on 05 February 2020 as an expansion of CIAC, it has received a Very Good rating by FCT in the last evaluation. The Hub in Santarém is responsible for the development and promotion of research in the fields of digital literacy and integration of disadvantaged individuals in the labor market, thus responding to the social challenges present in these areas. The research developed in Santarem is coordinated with three other international research and development centers: Center for Social Innovation (CSI, Cyprus); the Research Group Images, Words, and Ideas (GIPI, Spain); Research Group in Language Studies, Libras, special, and Distance Education and technologies (GPELET, Brazil).
The objectives of the Group are:
- Contribute to the development of knowledge resulting from scientific and technological research in the fields of digital literacy and inclusion of disadvantaged individuals in the labor market.
- Promote excellence in digital literacy as an effective strategy for inclusion in the labour market.
- To study the effectiveness of innovative resources and methodologies in empirical scenarios, as a way of promoting the employability of the target group.
- Develop a prototype for a holistic support model, with practices, resources, methodologies, connections, and correlations in the digital Domain, aimed at disadvantaged individuals, that can be globally replicated, thus contributing to a successful and sustainable inclusion.
