This publication is published twice a year, on an\u00a0<em>open access<\/em>\u00a0basis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Focus and Scope<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Rotura \u2013 Journal of Communication, Culture and Arts<\/strong>&nbsp;publishes research in the areas of Communication, Culture and Arts, namely in the field of artistic studies (visual arts, digital media art, cinema, theater) and cultural studies, communication, and literary studies (digital archives, digital critical editions), maintaining an interdisciplinary character. It is a publication of the OJS system, with rigorous scientific refereeing practices, that integrate experts from around the world. The objective of&nbsp;<strong>Rotura&nbsp;<\/strong>is to promote the advancement of scientific knowledge and the dissemination of research results in the referred areas, through a policy of free access to knowledge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Open Access<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>This is an open access journal which means that all content is freely available without charge to the user or his\/her institution. Users are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"publishing\">Publishing<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Rotura<\/strong>&nbsp;is published by the Research Centre for Arts and Communication (CIAC). CIAC is a multidisciplinary research centre, based at the University of Algarve, which works in the field of artistic, cultural and communication studies. The journal follows the highest standards of peer review and involves national and international researchers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Authors retain copyright and grant the journal the right of first publication with the work simultaneously licensed under a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/creativecommons.org\/licenses\/by-nc-nd\/4.0\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Creative Commons BY-NC-ND 4.0<\/a>. This licensing allows others to share and adapt the work with acknowledgement of the work&#8217;s authorship and initial publication in this journal, but not for commercial use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Rotura<\/strong>&nbsp;is free: no charge for authors or readers, available under the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/creativecommons.org\/licenses\/by-nc-nd\/4.0\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 4.0<\/a>&nbsp;license.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Structure of the Publication<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Rotura<\/strong>&nbsp;provides four sections in its structure:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" style=\"list-style-type:lower-alpha\">\n<li>Thematic dossiers;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Varia;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reviews and Interviews;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Art Chronicle.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Peer Review Policy<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>As previously mentioned,&nbsp;<strong>Rotura<\/strong>&nbsp;follows the double-blind peer review process, with the decision to publish dependent on the favorable opinion of two external reviewers, one of whom is a native speaker of the language used in the work. Reviewers, academic or professional experts, from different institutional and geographical backgrounds, will be recruited from the editorial board and, according to the journal&#8217;s theme and the content of the submitted works, from the areas of Communication Sciences and other Social and Human Sciences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Plagiarism<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Submitted articles are checked using electronic instruments (Urkund and Dupli Checker) to check for duplication. In cases where plagiarism or the improper or insufficiently mentioned inclusion of third-party copyright material is detected, or where the authorship of the article is disputed, Rotura reserves the right to take measures, including, but not limited to: publication of errata or rectification (correction); article collection; action with the head of department or dean of the author&#8217;s institution and\/or relevant academic bodies or societies; or appropriate legal measures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Digital Preservation<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Rotura<\/strong>\u00a0provides digital preservation services that guarantee a permanent and secure archive. The published content is compliant with the Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) and CLOCKSS (Controlled Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) protocols.\u00a0<strong>Rotura<\/strong>\u00a0uses the OAI-PMH protocol as a data exchange mechanism between systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-text-color has-white-color has-alpha-channel-opacity has-white-background-color has-background\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Rotura<\/strong>\u00a0is free of charges: no article processing fees are charged to authors and there is no access charges for readers.
