The evaluation left no room for doubt: the project\u2019s ambitious plan was not only achieved but exceeded. FCT highlighted its \u201cvery good scientific quality,\u201d described the results as \u201cremarkable,\u201d and noted that the achieved indicators \u201ccontributed to the project\u2019s international visibility.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>A Result That Speaks for Itself<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>FCT\u2019s report highlights the scope of PROPS\u2019s success, including publications in international journals and one book, as well as 14 presentations at national and international conferences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These figures reflect the dynamism and impact of the team, which managed to disseminate its results on a much broader scale than initially planned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Fighting Hate with Games and Good Stories<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>So, what exactly is PROPS?<br>It is an innovative project in the field of Communication Sciences that sought to address the problem of online hate through education and media literacy. Recognising that video games and social media are part of young people\u2019s everyday lives, PROPS developed interactive narratives \u2014 both digital and analogue \u2014 including interactive films and video games designed to empower educators, trainers, children, and young people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The goal was clear: to equip young people with the tools to take an active role in countering hate speech, transforming them from mere spectators into agents of change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>A National Alliance of Experts<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>This success was made possible thanks to a strategic collaboration among several higher education institutions in Portugal: the <em>University of Algarve<\/em> (coordinating institution), the <em>Polytechnic Institute of Santar\u00e9m<\/em>, the <em>Open University<\/em>, and the <em>University of Beira Interior<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The team, led by CIAC researchers <em>Bruno Mendes da Silva<\/em> and <em>Ana Filipa Martins<\/em>, brought together a group of specialists with extensive experience in education, media studies, media literacy, and video game design.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The PROPS project officially concluded on July 4, 2024, with a meeting bringing together researchers and educators. However, its legacy \u2014 now rated <em>\u201cExcellent\u201d<\/em> \u2014 remains available to the scientific community and to educators seeking to address this issue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>More
