The first edition was published on a print-on-demand basis through Clube de Autores and made available on the platform. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The book launches the\u00a0<strong>Fic\u00e7\u00f5es C\u00e9nicas<\/strong>\u00a0(<em>Stage Fictions<\/em>) series, which aims to publish or republish the author\u2019s dramatic works as individual volumes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>An encounter between memory and invention<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Set in Manaus on 30 June 1914, the play imagines an encounter between writers\u00a0<strong>Ant\u00f3nio Patr\u00edcio<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Roberto Gomes<\/strong> as Europe moves towards the First World War. The story takes place during Ant\u00f3nio Patr\u00edcio\u2019s time as Portuguese consul in the Brazilian city, then known as the <em>&#8220;Paris of the Tropics&#8221;.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Between memory and invention, the work imagines an encounter that may never have taken place, but whose questions remain alive:\u00a0<strong>what makes &#8211;  or does not make &#8211;  us human?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The book is available through\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/clubedeautores.pt\/livro\/exilio-em-manaus\">Clube de
