Many believe Breton\u2019s death also marks the death of surrealism, though in fact the ideology of one of the most important avant-garde movements of the 20th century had not ceased to exist with this event. This book celebrates, to some extent, the 50th anniversary of the death of surrealism, and, more so, it celebrates its persistence in continuing to exist, as a movement, as an act of creation, as a permanent revolution of thought. By entering the fascinating (yet dangerous) world of surrealism, an attempt is here being made to unveil that concept, to contextualize it and to use it, as far as possible, in its strictest sense. The work of Luis Bu\u00f1uel, filmmaker and surrealist, is therefore analyzed bearing in mind his involvement with the French movement and the poetic manifestations that occurred at the same time in his homeland, Spain. Through Bu\u00f1uel\u2019s cinema architecture, particularly his early films, it is possible to understand why he was unanimously considered the true representative of surrealist cinema. His work, which is structurally surrealist, is built on the principles advocated by Breton and his group. His films, in turn, are not only a depiction of the ideas proclaimed in the Manifestos of the movement, but they also portray authentic audiovisual poems. This book aims to draw a line between what is considered to be surrealism&nbsp;<em>stricto sensu<\/em>&nbsp;and the so-called surrealist spirit, which would continue to animate the work of many
