Ant\u00f3nio Costa Valente has a PhD in Communication Sciences and Technologies from the University of Aveiro. He was a guest lecturer at the public universities of Aveiro and Vila Real and director of the Theater and Cinema Department at ESAP – Escola Superior Art\u00edstica do Porto.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He has directed the AVANCA Film Festival since 1997, the AVANCA|CINEMA scientific conference since 2010 and coordinates the “Eng. Fernando Gon\u00e7alves Lavrador”, awarded annually to the best academic research on cinema.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He is the European coordinator of the “International Federation of Film Clubs” and the national coordinator of “INPUT-TV”, an international conference that annually brings together public television stations from all over the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He is co-editor of the International Journal of Cinema.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He has produced and directed films that have won more than six hundred awards at festivals on every continent. Among them, he produced and co-directed the first feature film in Portuguese animation cinema. He is the author of several books, book chapters and other scientific publications. He has supervised several doctoral and master’s theses. He is a reviewer for various national and international scientific conferences and magazines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
