Ana Carvalho has a degree in Design and Visual Communication from ESAD – Escola Superior de Arte e Design in Matosinhos (1994), a Masters in Interactive Art and Design from Falmouth University (2004) and a PhD in Information and Communication on Digital Platforms from FLUP (2013). She has taught at Falmouth University, Universidade Fernando Pessoa, Universidade de S\u00e3o Paulo and Universidade da Maia, and since 2017 has been coordinator of the Multimedia Art course at this institution.
Between 2022 and 2023 she participated as a researcher in the project “CyPet – Development of a new pedagogical model for teaching cyberperformance in higher education”.
Her curatorial work includes the group exhibition on the theme of technological surveillance “Omniscience – Strategies of Fracture and Escape” (F\u00f3rum da Maia, 2021) and Mark Amerika’s solo exhibition “Abducted Realities” (Casa Comum, 2023). Since 2016, he has organized the annual event “Meeting of Expressions between Sound and Image”. He co-edited the book “The Audiovisual Breakthrough” (2016). He started the research project Ephemeral Expanded in 2014. Since 2004, she has presented audiovisual performances (UK, France, USA, Brazil, Portugal). Between 2005 and 2009, he co-edited the research project VJ Theory with Brendan Byrne.
He is a founding member of the Earthsea Association.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Research Interests<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

He is currently a member of CIAC – Centro de Investiga\u00e7\u00e3o em Artes e Comunica\u00e7\u00e3o at the University of Algarve and the Centro de Investiga\u00e7\u00e3o em Tecnologias e Estudos Interm\u00e9dia at the University of Maia. He has dedicated his scientific activity – published in Portugal and abroad – to the audiovisual area, particularly in connection with performance as a result of reflection on the potential of technology and its social impact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
