Presentation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The International Conference Creation Processes CIAC is organized by the Visual Arts and Creation Processes Working Group<\/a> of the Research Center in Arts and Communication (CIAC)<\/a> at the University of Algarve<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Resulting from an international collaboration, initiated in 2019, with the Research Group in Creation Processes<\/a> of the Pontifical Catholic University of S\u00e3o Paulo (PUC-SP)<\/a>, which has been dedicated to the broad area of Creation Processes and their intersections for over 30 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first edition of the Conference is dedicated to the theme of Theories that live in practices<\/em><\/strong> and will take place on October 28th and 29th, 2024<\/strong>, in Faro, at the University of Algarve, at the Penha Campus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Call for Submissions<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In October 2024, artists and researchers gather at the University of Algarve, at the initiative of CIAC \u2013 Research Center in Arts and Communication, willing to contemplate Creation Processes across practices, materialities, procedures, and methods, under the theme of Theories that live in practices.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

CIAC has intensified studies and actions in the area of Creation Processes, especially since the beginning of the partnership with the Research Group in Creation Processes of PUC-SP (2019), cwith over 30 years of experience dedicated to research in this area. The results of this Portugal-Brazil partnership include the CIAC Creation Processes Collection<\/a> (2022), the Master’s Degree in Creation Processes at the University of Algarve<\/a>, and the CIAC Creation Processes Conference (2024).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thinking about Creation Processes in contemporary times means, among other things, contemplating the “faber” humanity that, in the face of its own incongruities and asymmetries, recreates, fictionalizes, and documents itself in multiple times and spaces. There is much art behind the scenes, in the theatre wings, in the frames and saved versions, in the costumes, in the pigments, in the rolls of paper, in the rearrangement of things, and in bringing people together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The focus of this first edition is the theories that live in these (so many) practices, aiming to be a door\/crack to showcase and experience this fruitful field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Conference welcomes abstracts for presentations by artists and researchers on the theme of the edition, Theories that live in practices<\/em><\/strong>, and on other suggested central themes, but not limited to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
