The PROPS project – Interactive Narratives Propose Pluralistic Discourse<\/a>, developed since 2023 by the Research Center for Arts and Communication (CIAC) of the University of Algarve, in partnership with the Polytechnic Institute of Santar\u00e9m, University of Beira Interior, and Universidade Aberta, focuses on media prevention and education, aiming to contain online hate speech. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This project has allowed the development of a set of interactive media resources, including video games, an interactive comic book and audiovisual essay, and pedagogical itineraries, with the purpose of engaging teachers, educators, children, and young people in reflection and discussion about online hate speech.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The “PROPS: Digital Diversity, Tolerance, and Online Inclusion” Meeting marks the conclusion of this project, providing an opportunity to present some of its results, deepen understanding of online hate speech, discuss pedagogical strategies for exploring this social phenomenon, showcase different preventive educational tools, and propose ways to approach and integrate them into the classroom context.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

V\u00edtor Tom\u00e9<\/strong> is an international expert in Digital Citizenship Education (Council of Europe), a member of the Expert Group on Tackling Disinformation through education and training (European Commission), an integrated researcher at CIES-Iscte-University Institute of Lisbon (Media Literacy and Journalism), a teacher at the Autonomous University of Lisbon (Communication Sciences), a teacher instructor (Ministry of Education), a trainer instructor (CENJOR), and a professional journalist (CP1524). He holds a bachelor’s degree in Education, post-graduate degrees in ICT and Journalism, a PhD in Education (2008, Media Literacy), and a six-year post-doctorate in Communication Sciences (2018).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
