The piece offers a unique sensory experience, where baritone Rui Baeta takes on the role of the \u2018last man\u2019, accompanied by electronic manipulations by Hugo Paquete and the special participation of musicians such as Cl\u00e1udio de Pina (synthesisers and programming) and violinists Pedro Carvalho and Ianina Khmelik.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Inspired by the works of composer Jani Christou, the opera recreates and expands the pieces \u2018Anaparastasis I: The Baritone\u2019 (1968) and \u2018Anaparastasis III: The Pianist\u2019 (1968), incorporating them into a sound and visual meta-dramaturgy that includes CO\u2082 readings converted into sound. This work deals with themes such as radical ecology, mysticism, death and the search for the limits of the \u2018I\u2019 in the face of the abyss, in a technological catharsis that challenges the limits of human survival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The original show was conceived for the site-specific format of the Porto Planetarium dome and has now been adapted for the Mechanical Music Museum, providing a new experience for the public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This show is funded by the Directorate-General for the Arts (DGArtes) and the Portuguese Republic \/ Culture, and has the support of various
