In addition to the Best Film award, the director was also honoured with the Best Screenplay award.\u00a0<em><strong>&#8220;O Antiqu\u00e1rio&#8221;\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>is a film adaptation of a short story by Fialho de Almeida. The film featured the voice of actor Ruy de Carvalho and music by Joaquim Pav\u00e3o.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This festival also honoured Cl\u00e1udio Jord\u00e3o&#8217;s film\u00a0<em><strong>&#8220;A Espuma e o Le\u00e3o<\/strong><\/em>&#8221; with the Best Thematic Representation Award. This film about the history of Olh\u00e3o, which was supported by the city council, has received more than 80 awards at festivals on five continents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\u00a0<em><strong>MA Beach Film Festival<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0took place this year in Cururupu in the state of Maranh\u00e3o, extending its screenings and activities to various quilombola communities, the interior, the Guar\u00e1s Forest and even the well-known Len\u00e7\u00f3is Maranhenses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Under the slogan &#8220;Black Ancestry and Human Rights&#8221;, the festival brought together literature and cinema, honouring the careers of Lourdinha Siqueira and Jos\u00e9 Ara\u00fajo as artists and human rights defenders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Directed by Brazilian filmmaker Milena Carvalho, the festival brought together curators and an international jury from both sides of the South Atlantic, America, and Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c<em><strong>O Antiqu\u00e1rio<\/strong><\/em>&#8221; and\u00a0<em><strong>&#8220;A Espuma e o Le\u00e3o<\/strong><\/em>&#8221; were both curated and produced by CIAC researcher Ant\u00f3nio Costa Valente and had the support of the Ministry of Culture&#8217;s ICA (Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual), as well as the participation of CIAC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator alignwide has-alpha-channel-opacity is-style-wide
