CALL FOR PAPERS FOR SPECIAL ISSUE OF ROTURA MAGAZINE OPEN UNTIL DECEMBER 1ST
The period for submission of papers for the special issue of Rotura – Communication, Culture and Arts Journal, from CIAC, is officially open. Under the theme “New Narratives and Media Literacy: Strategies and Experiences for Cybercitizenship”, this is a dossier that arises in the scope of the VI Alfamed International Conference: Social Networks and Citizenship: Cybercultures for Learning, to be held between October 26 and 28, 2022, in Arequipa (Peru). The call for papers runs until December 1, 2022.
The proliferation of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), along with the convergence of media, has created a new space in which prosumers play an important role. The dizzying and incessant creation, transmission and consumption of content through social media and digital platforms makes it necessary to analyze strategies and experiments in this field of study.
We live in a society in constant change brought about by cyberspace and the interactions that occur there. In this context, it is necessary to provide digital users with knowledge and tools to form a critical and democratic society, in a reality marked by technological evolution and virtuality. In terms of habits and consumption, society is becoming increasingly demanding and, as a result, new forms of social interaction are also emerging. Likewise, new narratives are emerging in which multimedia tools and interactivity are the guarantors of content. Undoubtedly, today’s cyber-citizenship raises the need for empowerment in these communicative contexts. However, at the educational level, it is still necessary to strengthen skills oriented to the use and appropriation of technological tools in order to use them in the best possible way. On the other hand, it is important to open spaces for dialogue around practices related to media literacy, ethics and narratives, which compete in the world of virtuality through news and content.
Articles are accepted in Portuguese, English, Spanish and French, which follow the following lines of research: cyberspace – new forms of social interaction; new narratives, interactivity and digital media; media literacy – strategies, experiences, social networks and cyber citizenship; content creators in the 21st century; habits, consumption and skills of the digital society; use of social networks as guarantors of a democratic society; discourse, ethics and values transmitted on social networks.
