Organized by RNEC, CIAC and ESEC (University of Algarve) and funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology, the congress aims to enhance the discussion on digital citizenship and contemporary cultures, as well as to reaffirm the vitality of the cultural studies field. In addition, it intends to debate on and publicize the work carried out in research centers and universities in order to promote the development of partnerships and teaching/research networks.
The National Network in Cultural Studies (RNEC) brings together nine Portuguese Higher Education Research and Instruction institutions dedicated to developing research, innovation, training, and dissemination of cultural studies. It aims to promote the organizing of the cultural studies field and stimulate national cooperation in order to provide further strength to scientific production in the field. This initiative intends for the cultural studies practiced in Portuguese universities to be increasingly a reference in and out of the country.
