MANUEL CÉLIO CONCEIÇÃO INTEGRATES THE PORTUGUESE QUALITY INSTITUTE’S TECHNICAL COMMISSION ON TERMINOLOGY, LANGUAGE AND LANGUAGES
Invited by the Portuguese Institute for Quality (IPQ), CIAC researcher Manuel Célio Conceição integrates the new Technical Committee for Standardization (CT 221), designated “Terminology, Language and Languages”. This commission will analyze the adaptation of the standards of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) in the field of the themes listed in its designation.
IPQ and ISO are organizations whose mission is to develop and implement technical standards, that is, guiding documents for the organization and/or execution of a product, process or service, in the area of industry. CT 221 and its counterpart CT 37 of ISO (Language and Terminology) are dedicated to the creation of standards, guides and technical reports, whose objective is to standardize descriptions, resources, technologies and services related to terminology, translation, interpretation and other activities, within the area of the multilingual information society.
Besides the scientific, technical and social relevance of the impact of this work, the visibility given to CIAC in the areas of standardization and quality stands out.
