GABRIEL RODRIGUEZ IS THE NEXT GUEST OF CIAC WEBINARS
On 24th March, 2022, at 7pm, CIAC promotes the webinar “Film Clubs and Audience Formation”, with Gabriel Rodriguez, Secretary General of the International Federation of Film Societies.
Film clubbing is part of the culture of cinema and moving images, and, in turn, it is the public that protagonizes the history of active spectatorship. In this sixth edition of CIAC Webinars, we intend to understand the role of film clubs in raising awareness of the filmic experience and developing critical thinking.
With a degree in communication and art history, Gabriel Rodriguez is, since 2010, professor of Sociology of Cinema, at the Faculty of Political and Social Sciences of UNAM (Mexico). From 2011 to 2017, he was responsible for the academic planning of the Ingmar Bergman Chair in cinema and theater, UNAM. He has written books, essays and journalistic articles on cinema, photography, wrestling, urban culture and film clubs, in national and international publications. Among others, the University of Guadalajara published his book Manuel González Casanova, pionero del cine universitário (2009) and the Filmoteca de la UNAM published his books Cartas a México, correspondencia de Cesare Zavattini 1954-1988 (2007) and ABCineclub, guía para entusiastas (2016). As coordinator, his most recent publication is entitled Atlas del Cineclub, metodologías, estrategias y herramientas (2020).
