CIAC WEBINARS
AUSTIN FISHER IS THE NEXT GUEST OF CIAC WEBINARS
On April 27, 2022, at 4pm, CIAC promotes the webinar “Politics on the Prairie, Blood in the Streets: Contextualizing Italian Filone Cinema”, with Austin Fisher, Professor of Popular Culture at Bournemouth University (England).
The seventh edition of CIAC Webinars aims to reflect on how the Italian film cycles of the 1960s and 1970s (known locally as filoni) were incorporated into their cultural and political contexts. The production of Spaghetti Westerns, conspiracy thrillers, gangster films and serial killers will be analysed according to the industrial context of the Italian studio system and in the socio-historical environment of this era of protest, terrorism and political intrigue.
Austin Fisher is the author of the monographs Blood in the Streets: Histories of Violence in Italian Crime Cinema (2019) and Radical Frontiers in the Spaghetti Western (2011), as well as editor of Spaghetti Westerns at the Crossroads (2016) and Grindhouse: Cultural Exchange on 42nd Street, and Beyond (2016). He is also co-editor of Bloomsbury’s Global Exploitation Cinemas book series.
Tim Bergfelder, Eleanor Halsall and Patricia Moran are already confirmed for the next editions.
Participation is free of charge and a certificate is awarded.
