Visual Arts Cycle brings to Faro the artist Miguel Soares, one of the pioneers of digital art in Portugal.

The program of the Visual Arts Cycle begins on the 7th February, on Thursday, with an important name in the Portuguese artistic scene: Miguel Soares is received at the University of the Algarve, where he has taught, between 2006 and 2008, for a conversation that will have as a common denominator the digital art, the new media and the video art.

Miguel Soares, graduated in Equipment Design from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Lisbon, is currently a PhD student in Contemporary Art from the College of Arts of the University of Coimbra and has an exhibition at the National Museum of Contemporary Art of Chiado until the 24th February, LUZAZUL, a set of several new works, composed of fixed images of digital composition, presented in light boxes, and moving images, 3D animation with musical compositions, presented in screens and projection, with scenes illuminated by “real” photos.

Professionally, in addition to his teaching career, he has been working at the University of Algarve, Faculty of Sciences and Technology of the University of Coimbra, University of Évora and Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon since 2006. He has been exposing his works in Portugal and abroad since the  early nineties. He was the winner of the BES Photo 2007 award. His work is represented in several public and private collections in Portugal and abroad.

The session will take place next 7th February, in the Auditorium 0.4, at the Pedagogical Complex of Campus da Penha, at 2:30 p.m. The entrance is free.
