Colloquium Narrative, Media and Cognition
Inaugural Conference of the Narrative, Media and Cognition Colloquium, by Professor Arnaldo Saraiva, will be transmitted via streaming through the CIAC Facebook Page
Arnaldo Saraiva was born in 1939, in Casegas (Covilhã). He is a university professor, scientific and literary researcher, essayist, chronicler and poet. Graduated in Classical Philology in the Faculty of Letters of Lisbon, he obtained his PhD in the Faculty of Letters of Porto, where he worked as a professor of Brazilian and African Studies. He was a lecturer of Portuguese and Brazilian Language and Literature at the University of California, Santa Barbara (U.S.A.) and a visiting professor at the University of Paris III (Sorbonne Nouvelle). He studied in Rio de Janeiro, where he prepared the thesis “Carlos Drummond de Andrade: from the Cradle to the Book”. In Paris he studied under the supervision of Roland Barthes, A.J. Greimas and Gérad Genette, he also studied in Urbino. He was a member of the Cooperativa Árvore and Boavista Futebol Clube. Collaborator of Radiotelevisão Portuguesa, Radiodifusão Portuguesa (Antena1) and several Portuguese and foreign publications. He also collaborated in the Luso-Brazilian Encyclopedia of Culture. He was the founder of the Center for Fernando Pessoa Studies, co-directing the magazine “Persona” and the newspaper “O Boavista”, which he founded.
The Colloquium will take place on 9th and 10th November at the Pedagogical Complex of Penha Campus.
The admission is free and it is possible to get a certificate of participation, but prior registration is needed.
