CIAC PRESENT AT THE XII CONGRESS OF SOPCOM
On April, 12, 2022, CIAC will be present at the 12th SOPCOM (Portuguese Association of Communication Sciences) Congress, to be held at NOVA University, Lisbon. Integrated in the panel “Disruption and Society V: Agendas & Education Agents” (Auditorium A13), CIAC researcher João Pinto presents “(Open) Education and Cinema: challenges in the light of the PNC”.
The article, co-authored by Professors Teresa Cardoso (Universidade Aberta) and Ana Isabel Soares (Universidade do Algarve), seeks to reflect on the relationship between education and cinema, considering the challenges of technological disruption for the National Cinema Plan (PNC), namely in the context of the open education movement. To this end, the possible links between cinema and educational pedagogy are analysed, and the new paths for its integration in educational contexts, in line with the new learning paradigms.
Hosted by CIAC, with funding from FCT and integrated in the doctorate in Digital Media-Art, the researcher’s work is part of the ongoing research project “Education, Cinema, Social Networks: A study on the National Cinema Plan”, under the scientific supervision of the mentioned co-authors. From the research carried out, it is concluded that cinema continues to have a great pedagogical potential in contemporary society. In this context, the PNC plays a fundamental role as a guiding instrument for the educational community, since it promotes methodological strategies that ensure cinema’s full potential. The researchers also argue that (Open) Education and Cinema (specifically the PNC) have a recognised, desirable and promising relationship.
