GABRIELA BORGES ATTENDS THE CONGRESS AND PRE-CONGRESS OF THE NATIONAL NETWORK OF CULTURAL STUDIES (RNEC)
Today, May 25, 2022, CIAC researcher Gabriela Borges participates in the international conference “Arts, Cultures and Media: Intercultural communication and technological landscapes in the Portuguese-speaking space”, with the communication “Audiovisual Quality Observatory: curatorship, experimental production of content and scientific dissemination”. This is an event of the research project “Memories, cultures and identities: the past and the present of intercultural relations in Mozambique and Portugal”, which is associated with the 1st Congress of the National Network of Cultural Studies (RNEC), to be held on 26 and 27 May, at the University of Aveiro.
The Observatory of Quality in Audiovisual is a research, teaching and extension project that operates since 2013 as a space for debate and creation of experimental content, from the curation, analysis and criticism of contemporary audiovisual production (especially Luso-Brazilian). It aims to put into dialogue the concepts of audiovisual quality and media literacy.
On 27th May, Gabriela Borges will also attend the 1st Congress of the National Network of Cultural Studies – Cartographies, Challenges and Possibilities and present “Arts, Culture and Communication at the CIAC of the University of Algarve”. Starting from a contextualisation of the interdisciplinary character and aims of the Centre, different CIAC projects that have been developed in the interface with cultural studies will be presented.
This event aims to bring together academics, researchers and Portuguese research centres and academic institutions which have been devoted to Cultural Studies over the last two decades. The aim is to map the area in Portugal, seeking to enhance its interdisciplinary and interinstitutional development, through partnerships in projects and between research centres; to affirm the vitality of the area; and to strengthen the National Network in Cultural Studies.
