CYCLE OF VISUAL ARTS
SARA NAVARRO IS THE NEXT GUEST OF THE CYCLE OF VISUAL ARTS
On May 18, 2022, at 5 pm, CIAC and the University of Algarve promote a lecture with sculptor, researcher and professor Sara Navarro. Integrated in the Visual Arts Cycle, the session takes place at the Amphitheatre 0.4 of the Penha Campus and admission is free.
Sara Navarro’s work addresses the potential role of sculpture in the communication of archaeology in a museum context. Combining her training in sculpture with her profissional experience in the field of museology, she explores how contemporary art (and in particular sculpture) can fit into archaeological research, with a view to developing new ways of thinking and representing, communicating and exhibiting.
Focusing on ceramic production, Sara Navarro seeks to develop innovative museological strategies that, by including the exhibition of contemporary sculpture in archaeological contexts, activate the visitor’s capacity for ‘agency’, making their enjoyment more active, freer and more subjective.
Promoted by CIAC and FCT, the Cycle of Visual Arts is organized by the Visual Arts Faculty of the Faculty of Human and Social Sciences of the University of Algarve.
