CYCLE OF VISUAL ARTS
RODRIGO ROSA IS THE GUEST THAT STARTS ANOTHER EDITION OF THE CYCLE OF VISUAL ARTS
On the 9th of March, 2022, at 17h00, the University of Algarve hosts the lecture by artist Rodrigo Rosa, as part of another edition of the Cycle of Visual Arts . The session takes place in room 1.04 of the Engineering Building, at the Penha Campus, and admission is free.
The basis of Rodrigo Rosa’s artistic practice lies in its multidisciplinary nature. The personal need to explore diverse mediums and approaches to the artistic object adds a multifaceted complexity to it and enables the creation of a broad timeline of artistic productions, which are perpetually in dialogue with each other (either by complementing each other or by the violent contrast between them). Rodrigo Rosa questions the role that human presence (or its total absence) plays within the city. His research focuses on the relationship between memory and the urban landscape. Memory-object, memory-location and memory-person, delicately intertwined with his private narratives, emerge as references for his creation and artistic practice.
Rodrigo Rosa (Faro, 1997), currently lives and works between Prague and Lisbon. Graduated in Visual Arts at the University of Algarve in 2018, he is currently completing his MA in Fine Art at UMPRUM Prague, while holding a Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation scholarship, under the tutorship of Dominik Gajarsky, Michal Pěchouček and Matt Mullican. Since 2021, he is represented by Störung Gallery in Berlin, where he will present the solo exhibition An Everlasting Gaze in June 2022.
Promoted by CIAC and FCT, the Cycle of Visual Arts is organized by the Visual Arts Degree, from the Faculty of Human and Social Sciences, University of Algarve.
